April is Citizen Science Month, a global celebration of public participation in scientific research. As a partner of SciStarter, the leader of Citizen Science Month, CitSci is contributing acts of science.

An “Act of Science” can be:
- Contributing data to a project.
- Analyzing images or datasets.
- Attending an event.
- Supporting research in any measurable way.
If you also create a SciStarter account, you can track your contributions and become eligible for prizes from SciStarter throughout April, including a free subscription to New Scientist magazine!
Last year, nearly 500,000 volunteers contributed more than 3 million Acts of Science. Anyone can participate, and even a few minutes makes a difference.
Looking for a great project to do this CitSciMonth?

May we recommend our featured project, the #LeaveNoTrash University Challenge?
It’s a week-long, global event focused on clean-ups and sustainability research across campus communities.
Cleanup Week is April 18–26, 2026.
This is an opportunity to bring people together, collect meaningful environmental data, and contribute to a broader effort around sustainability and stewardship.
To get involved:
- Submit the interest form.
- Join the CitSci project to access resources, log data, and explore results.
Find everything you need to get started here.
Not affiliated with a campus? You can join the main #LeaveNoTrash project, or take part in any of our favorite CitSci global projects!
